Uri Snir joined Babin Bessner Spry LLP as an articling student in 2014. Following his articles, Uri provided litigation support for various commercial litigation matters. He has since acted for clients in a wide range of matters, including securities litigation, employment law, and regulatory matters. Uri also provides complex damages analysis briefs to support both plaintiff and defendant matters, particularly in securities litigation.

Uri acts for investment professionals and dealers in investigations, settlements and contested hearings involving Canadian securities regulators, including the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC).

Uri obtained his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he also served as a research assistant for a startup academic website. Prior to law school, he worked as a Derivatives Analyst at one of Canada’s largest banks. Uri’s financial services background makes him invaluable to the firm.

Uri obtained his B.B.A (with distinction) from the Schulich School of Business, where he studied finance and marketing.

Outside of law, Uri enjoys playing tennis and basketball.

Uri’s experience includes acting for:

  • A large Canadian investment dealer and fund manager in a dispute relating to unsuitable investments and excessive trading. 
  • Various investment advisors and dealers in regulatory matters at the MFDA and IIROC.
  • A mutual fund salesperson and a registered mutual fund dealer in a claim relating to negligence, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty.
  • A major automobile dealership in connection with an employment dispute.
  • A prominent Canadian financial institution in a dispute involving an insurance claim for property damage.
  • A sporting goods retailer in a commercial lease dispute.
